Boston Mackerel

Speckled Trout are in the yacht basin and running in good numbers. There have been many caught and I have even heard about some as big as five pounds. People are still catching a few Puppy Drum in the waterway. That should start improving daily as long as we do not get many cold snaps. I have not heard of many Stripped Bass being caught lately. I don’t know if all the rain has had something to do with it. Offshore, there is plenty of small King Mackerel from twenty miles out to as far as you want to go. If you travel as far out as the tower you will probably find some real nice Black Bass. I have weighed in several that were better than four pounds. We at Seagull, or should I say Karen and I, have decided to get more frequent fishing done. We are tired of missing out and besides, someone has to catch that twenty-one pound flounder, therefore we are retiring from business. The store and land are for sale and if you are interested you can call Betsy McQuillen at Walker Realty (458-3388) for more info. We will still be telling you all the local news about fishing and gathering pictures via Internet and other local fishing stores. We will keep you up-to-date on the Boston Mackerel with warmer than normal temperatures. They should be in early this year. In fact I’ve heard there are some biting about thirty miles out offshore. Keep fishin and releasin… Steve and Karen Labane.
