Time To Start Fishing The Mouth Of The Cape Fear River

On the piers people are reporting catches of spots, flounder, Virginia mullet, bluefish, croaker and black drum. In the surf, people are reporting catches of black drum, Virginia mullet, bluefish, flounder, croaker and pompano. Inshore we are catching red drum, flounder, croaker, gray trout, speckled trout, bluefish and pigfish. On the bottom they are catching black bass, grunts, grouper, snapper and amberjack. Offshore, there are reports of nice size king mackerel, Spanish mackerel and mahi mahi. This week’s fishing tip: It’s time to start fishing the mouth of the Cape Fear River. The small sharks are gone. Now the whiting, trout, flounder, croaker, black bass, pigfish, spots, etc., have moved in. this is a great place for a lot of action. Falling tide is the best time to fish. Use a light action rod with a double hook spot rig with shrimp for the best results. Keep fishing and stay safe. Captain John Carty Affordable Charters
