The spike in weather temperatures this past week should and will probably turn the fish or at least wake them for a day or two this week. There are still plenty of sharks in the surf and a few Black Drum mainly under the piers. You will still find a few Black Drum and Red Drum in the waterway around most of docks that have a creek near them. The reason for that is if there are any minnows or small crabs, they will wash out with the tide to the waiting fish. It will also be the time when the water will be the warmest and use a very light Carolina Rig with small pieces of Shrimp or little pieces of cut bait. You might try floating a minnow in the surf under a poppin-cork. There seems to be plenty of Trout around. Offshore, about twenty-five miles to thirty-miles, you will find some nice Grouper and some decent grunts. Up on top around the tower area I hear there are some King Mackerel feeding. Make sure you keep up with your boat this winter if you have not already winterized it for the season, then maybe you had better start it once every two weeks. You can buy a set of muffs for about twelve dollars or I have a barrel with a valve in the bottom. I fill it with water and leave it running for a while. Remember gasoline will turn to varnish after a while. That’s an expensive repair and a lot of down time in the spring. Keep fishin and releasin… Steve and Karen Labanec
