Find Some Nice Groupers At Frying Pan Tower

Well we are into the dead of winter, which really feels like spring most of the time. They say it was the warmest winter ever recorded and I can believe that and so could the fish. They would be happy to tell you they had plenty to eat pretty much all winter. That’s right. All the menhaden did not die in Wrightsville Beach. In fact, there are even some mullets still around. As for fish, I’m still hearing about a few speckled trout down by the monument at Fort Fisher. The river is still holding some puppy drum around most of the islands and there are still some Striped Bass up the river. Offshore, Black Bass are out about twenty miles or more and I hear they are pretty good size and if you dare to chance the weather and run to the tower, you can even find some nice Groupers. Spring will be here soon and so will the Whiting. If we are lucky and do not get a week of freezing temperatures between now and the end of the month, we just might be through the worst of the winter. Keep fishin and releasin… Steve and Karen Labanec 910-458-7135
