Fall Surf Fishing Tournament

want to start by apologizing for not thanking all our sponsors in this year’s fall surf fishing tournament. In spite of everything everyone had a good time; all two hundred and ninety of them. Now for this week’s flood, the full moon and astronomically high tides topped with all that rain runoff is washing over both ends of the island and that will pass soon. As for fishing, well, it’s pretty darn good. Both piers – especially the North Pier – are catching Spots by the bucket full and some are of decent size. As for Whiting, there are some in the surf and around the piers but by far – if you have a boat, down the river is the place to be. Some real nice fish are being caught including some big Drum. Blue Fish are also being caught in the surf. Fishing should remain good for a long while as long as the water temperature is still in the upper seventies. There are still plenty of Flounder around. Just offshore, Grey Trout are thick down around the monument about a half-mile offshore. Further out, bottom fishing is pretty good when you can get out there. Even though the weather has been rather rough, fall fishing is starting off great. We have even heard of some real big Red Drum down on the south end. Keep fishin and releasin… Steve and Karen Labanec Seagull Bait and Tackle
