Well, except for Stripers and Speckled Trout, it’s pretty well over for this year! But as for Stripers there are plenty up the river from the big Bridge on up to Smith Creek and they’re plentiful. Many of the Striped Bass are being taken on artificial and live baits. It’s also time to try for some of those big catfish, but you will have to travel way up the Cape Fear River. Speckled Trout seem to be very plentiful this year. Many are being taken on mirror lures but green grubs with red heads and live minnows are also working well. We have heard of Trout coming from the water way and inlet, and most of the river. Offshore, King Mackerel are still hanging around the twenty-mile mark and bottom fishing is also pretty good if and when you can get out there. This is also time for those of you who have given up for the year to think about winterizing that boat. Even though its not cold enough to freeze hard, gas laying in the tank and carburetor can quickly turn to varnish and really mess things up. So, stop by Car Quest or Tom?s Marine for some stabilizer for your gas and avoid that springtime headache.
