Carolina Explorer late April/early May fishing report.

The past few weeks we were blessed with average fishing and lots of wind. We caught fish but had to work hard and cover lots of ground.  Anybody saying the oppisite, well you know what I mean.

Inshore we have caught red drum on live mudminnow, fresh shrimp, and with lures on the flats boat.  The black drum and a few sheepshead have been biting shrimp and small crabs. We also caught bluefish and a few flounder as well.  At the mouth of the river we caught lots of whiting on fresh shrimp. The whiting fishing is almost over since the sharks have moved in.

Just off the beach the bluefish and spanish mackerel have showed up in great numbers.  We have been catching these fish casting spoons to surface feeders or trolling.  This action has been great when the weather has allowed us to get in the ocean.

I know the weather is going to break, winds calm down and the fish will get to really biting.  If you want to sightcast to redfish or cast spoons at spanish give me a call at 910-264-1807.

Here are a few pics of the last few trips, fishing fun was had by everyone….
