Speckled Trout and drum catches

Article by: Mark Mayo

Speckled Trout and drum catches are good this week.  This week has been a beautiful week temperature wise. Water temperatures are on the way up. There are still stripped bass, red drum and catfish north in the river. Stripped bass have been caught on live eels. The beach renourishment is now over, so the fishing in the surf should pick up. The mouth of the Cape Fear River is still the best spot to catch croakers, sea mullet and small pan fish. So let’s keep our fingers crossed that March has no cold weather. Still no report for offshore.

Keep fishing and stay safe.
