It’s March and things should start warming up soon. I have heard of some Whiting caught down off Holden Beach. Soon they should start hitting down at the mouth of the Cape Fear River. It generally starts at the end or the last week of March. Otherwise, it’s still kind of slow. We are all guilty of neglecting our equipment. I know I am. Do you hate the first trip out and the depth finder won’t work, or, it’s real hard to start the motor? The best thing to do is to go down to the ramp and stick the boat in the water to make sure all the stuff you need is still in good working condition and up to date! Nothing worse than having to call SeaTow on the first trip of the season. Offshore, bottom fishing is great if you can get the right day to make it offshore with the weather. Huge black bass are thick anywhere past the twenty-mile mark. Things should really start picking up shortly. Do not forget to e-mail your Senators and congressmen about the Carolina Beach Inlet. It is vital that it remain open! A lot of bait comes through that inlet to feed those big flounder. So even if you don?t have a big boat or use the inlet it is still just as important to the bank fishermen as the boater. So go online and visit www.fryingpantower.com to find out more about what?s going on and how to get involved. Let?s catch some fish folks. All work and no play is not very healthy. Keep fishin and releasin!
