Inshore fishing is picking up

Article by: Mark Mayo

Inshore fishing is picking up due to the rising water temperature. Some good catches of Virginia mullet, lots of small croaker, small spot, some speckled trout, a few gray trout, flounder, red drum, & good catches of black drum.

On the piers Virginia mullet, croaker, nice size bluefish, & a few small flounder.

On the surf there are reports of large bluefish weighing in at the 9 & 10 lb range, some small flounder, black drum, & shark.

Offshore on the bottom black bass, grunt, snapper, gag & red grouper.

Fishing tip of the week: The small menhaden have shown up at the dredge hole. Live bait has been a hard thing to get lately so this should mean better flounder catches in the very near future. Keep fishing & stay safe.
