Mahi, Kings, And A Nice 30lb Amberjack

What a awesome start for the month of July! Today I had Corporal Web Haining of the USMC and two of his friends aboard and the fish were very cooperative! We started off about 18 miles off the beach trolling some freshly caught turbo Menhaden and within 30 seconds we had a nice Mahi hooked up and putting on a great show! After that it was non stop action all day long. We ended up with Mahi, Kings and a nice 30lb AJ. We lost a few more larger AJ’s, but I have just about fixed that problem with the new 40lb stand up tackle. You have to experience the awesome power of these AJ’s!! They are tons of fun and good eating as well! Also we had a NICE cobia follow one of our AJ’s to the surface but unfortunately the cobia left as fast as it appeared. There were lots of boats out there but we were one of the few with live baits and it really paid off! The weeds were scattered but manageable and its nice to finally see the kings move in closer. Inshore, Capt. Trevor has been doing well with the flounder and red fish. The falling tide is producing the best. The water is pretty hot and the fish are becoming a but picky. Live bait and the Berkely GULP! shrimp on a jig head have been working the best. The Reel Tackle Shop has reopened in the old Cape Fear Marine and Tackle location near Monkey Junction. They are well stocked and ready for business. Stop in and check them out! Please check out our NEW message board @ http://reel-adventure.com Its growing fast with lots of good info…and its free! Lets go fishing! Capt. Matt Wirt www.reel-adventure.com 910-540-0570
