The 18TH Annual Bald Head Island Fishing Rodeo Tournament is now history.
May 28 – May 30 marked this year’s sport fisherman event with 22 boats and their crews participating, catching a total of 92 wahoo, tuna and dolphin weighing a total of 1,925.07 lbs., averaging 20.92 lbs per fish.
The winners of the 18TH Annual Bald Head Fishing Rodeo Tournament are as follows:
Taking first place was Captain Chris Bailey and crew of Lane Choice out of Wrightsville Beach, NC. First-place prize paid out $7,920 for reeling in a total of 295.26 lbs of fish.
Very close behind was Second-place winner, Captain David Marshall and crew of the Musicman out of Carolina Beach, NC, winning $3,960 for a total of 283.92 lbs of fish.
Third-place winner goes to Captain Austin Eubank and crew, of the Sandy Beach.
Ashley Nifong won Lady Angler with a 45 lb wahoo while fishing aboard Fish Hooker.
Junior Angler goes to Michael Meredith fishing aboard Lane Choice for reeling in a 20 lb wahoo.
Skip Dickens fishing aboard Turbulence won the catch-and-release bill fish slot with a blue marlin.
This year’s event will benefit the preservation of Old Baldy, North Carolina’s oldest lighthouse.
