Fishing Report striped bass in the Northeast Cape Fear River north of Smith Creek

On the piers Spanish mackerel, flounder, sheepshead, a few black drum, a few small spots, Virginia mullet, king mackerel, pompano, croakers, sharks, & stingrays.

In the surf catching some nice size bluefish, flounder, black & red drum, pompano, stingrays & shark.

Inshore a few speckled trout, flounder, bluefish, black & red drum, sheepshead, croakers, pigfish, stingrays, & sharks.

Offshore on the bottom grouper, snapper, grunt, ringtails, pinkies, black bass, & shark. On the top dolphin, king mackerel, barracuda, sailfish, wahoo & shark.

Fishing tip of the week: There are quite a few striped bass in the Northeast Cape Fear River north of Smith Creek. Just a reminder you can not keep any striped bass. They are still fun to catch though. Keep fishing & stay safe.


Allen caught & released some nice red drum while fishing in the back waters of Bald Head Island.
