Cape Fear River fishing with a few drag screamers – blast from the past

Article by: Mark Mayo

Cape Fear River fishing report: Fishing in the mouth of the Cape Fear River has been pretty good this past week.

There have been lots of blues around the inlets and a few drag screamers mixed in.

We have caught a few speckled and gray trout while fishing for them. The speckled trout bite continues to be strong and should only get better with the larger fish showing up.

We are catching redfish of all sizes and most are over the slot.

All of these fish have been caught on both artificial and live baits.

The virginia mullet have shown up in good numbers in the Cape Fear around an hour before or after low and high water.

Some of these tasty fish out of the are the larger ones and a lot of fun on light tackle.

Let’s go fishing,
