Shallow water redfishing – blast from the past
The shallow water redfishing has been really good lately. I have been catching good numbers of redfish in 6 to 12″ of water. Most of the time the water is too shallow to work the trolling motor, so I am poling the boat to get to the fish. We have found schools of 20 to 50 fish pushing up wakes and boiling up the mud. Some of these fish are over the slot and all have been caught on artificials. On the days that I could not get on the flats and sight cast to reds we have been able to catch them working the oyster points.
On Sat. the 24th I had David from Conn. on the Ranger Banshee Extreme. The day started out slow, cold, and windy. After about two hours of working the trolling motor we finally located a school of reds and he caught around thirty fish. Many of the fish were in the four to six pound range. David had never caught a redfish before, now he has thirty under his belt. He also caught two speckled trout.
If you want to go shallow water redfishing give me a call. It is an awesome experience to see and catch these fish.
Thanks,
Jeff
