There have been some good catches of gray trout, a few Virginia mullet and small black bass right off the beach, at John’s Creek, High Rock and the new dredge spot about a half mile off Kure Beach pier. Inshore, the fishing is getting better also. If you like fishing for Virginia mullet go to the mouth of the Cape Fear River. We have had some good catches last week. They are not very big, but very good eating size at about a pound apiece. The piers will be opening soon so we will start having pier reports. I think the cold weather is out of here, spring has sprung. So get your fishing gear out of hibernation and start fishing. Good new for ya’ll that fish on the south end. The Fort Fisher Trading Post has now expanded their fishing section and is now selling live minnows. Stop by and check them out. Keep fishing and stay safe. Captain John Carty Affordable Charters
