Inshore, people are catching croakers, small spots, a few Virginia mullet, red and black drum, speckled trout, stripped bass and catfish. No report for surf fishing. Offshore, people bottom fishing are catching black bass, grouper, grunts and a few flounder. This week’s fishing tip: There are still some fish to catch in the Cape Fear River like stripped bass, red drum, catfish and speckled trout. There are a lot of good fishing spots in the river. The best way to learn about the river is just to go out there. Take it slow and safe. When you see a spot that looks good, fish it. After a few fishing trips you will be adding new fishing holes to your fishing day, which will equal more fish. It’s a lot more fun to find the fish yourself than to ask someone else. Your typical fisherman will not tell you the truth! That’s all part of the fun. So get out there this winter and do some exploring. It will pay off! Keep fishing and stay safe.
