In the surf there are reports of puppy drum, flounder, bluefish, Virginia mullet, croaker, black drum and pompano being caught. On the piers, people are reporting catches of flounder, spots, Virginia mullet, bluefish, croaker, black drum and still a few sheepshead. Offshore, there are reports of king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, mahi mahi, sailfish and white marlin. For bottom fishing, they are catching black drum, grunts, grouper, snapper and some amberjack. Inshore we are catching speckled trout, red drum, flounder, croaker, large bluefish and sharks. This week’s fishing tip: Getting hung-up is all part of fishing. I have found the best way to get your rig back is to point the tip of your rod towards the hang. Then tighten the drag and walk very slowly back. It will come lose or break the rig off. Do not wrap the line around your hand or you will get cut. If your rig is still attached, check your line for any frays. Keep fishing and be safe. Captain John Carty Affordable Charters
