Seahawk Inshore Fishing Report 3/25/14 Spring Fishing is Here!!! Short Report and Spring Fishing Forecast

The fishing has been pretty good here in the Cape Fear area and should be getting better as the water temp rises. We’ve had a decent winter catching fish but I am ready for some steady warmer temps.

We are catching good numbers of redfish on soft plastics (mostly Gulp Shrimp) and live minnows. Most of the reds have been slot sized with a few under slots in the mix. There are some large schools of reds roaming the flats and the sightfishing has been good when conditions are right. We are also picking up some speckled trout on soft plastics.

We are just a few weeks away from some of our other inshore species to start trickling in. Sheephead, flounder, bluefish, spanish mackerel, whiting, black drum, and a few other inshore fish should be showing up the middle to end of April. Should be a great time to get on the water, get rid of that spring fever, and catch some fish in the backwaters of the Lower Cape Fear.

Thanks for reading the report and check out the photos from the last month. We have caught fish all winter so we should have a good spring. If you are looking to book a trip, please do so early as people are booking for their summer vacations.
