If you can name it you can probably go out and catch it right now.
One thing is for sure; this week was as good as the last one. On Monday, the Kure Beach Pier reported some King Mackerel. One as big as 33 pounds.
Flounder were hot this past week. We have seen many big flat fish including Ted Conner’s nine and a half pound catch. Yes, things are looking up!
Slowly they grow. Flounder that is. After weeks of barely legal Flounder some bigger fish have started showing up
Fishing is still getting better and showing no signs of letting up. Inshore, the river is producing Flounder and Black Drum. The Snow’s Cut area seems to be the best place to catch Flounder. None are real big, but there are a lot of keepers.
There is so much going on I do not know where to begin. Offshore, Wahoo and Dolphin are thick and the weed lines about twelve miles out.
Flounder are on the move. We have been seeing a lot of small fish coming from the surf, inlet, and of course, Snow’s Cut.

Big fish! That’s this weeks report.
Like I’ve said before, all it’s going to take is a little warm water to get the fishing season jump-started. Tide tables for May 2005.
Here we go! A quick warm up was all it took to bring the fish out to feed.
Will someone please, please turn off the wind machine!
Slow improvements are better than none at all I guess.
Getting better by the day! Whiting are the main game. Inshore, both piers are doing well with lots of small fish from Blowfish to Blues and sharks are plentiful.
Well, we are finally seeing some good fish coming in.
Can you feel it getting closer? Any day now those big whiting will hit the beach and river. Just hang on a little longer.
It?s time to wet a hook. You have waited long enough.
Welcome all fishermen and fisherwomen! My name is Steve Labanec and my wife Karen and I own Seagull Bait and Tackle in Carolina Beach, NC.
