Wishing all a safe Hoiday Season and Great 2009!

Light Winds, Slight Seas, Screaming Reels and Tight Lines!

Even though the year is coming to a claso some EXCELLANT fishing can be had at this time of year!

MUST WATCH WEATHER! Look for NICE HIGH PRESSURE and hit the water!

Last year Gulf Stream privded last sail fo season between Xmas and New Years! Lots of big Wahoo and even a stray Mahi!

Closer in to shore the King Bite can be unreal this time of year! Make sure you look for the 65 degree water temp, locate structure and bait near that temperature and you should catch all you want! I suggest fast trolling to locate fish then change to slow trolling for great action. Frying Pan Tower was excellent this time of year in years past!

Grouper Bite is also EXCELLENT!!! I like the 35 to 40 mile range ledges and catch some great fish! Also monster black sea bass can be had!!!

Hope to hear from many of you in 2009!

Have Fun and Be Safe!!

Kings were thick 3 miles off Southport. Had 27 Nice fish in 2 trips on live bait! Wide open live bait fishing many sky rockets!

Gulf stream has really heated up Wahoo, Tuna, Mahi and some sails!

Grouper bite has been excellant with many big gags and reds! They are as close as 15 miles with best bite further off shore! Try live pinfish for great gag grouper action.

Nearer to shore monster spanish have been caught had 2 over 7#.

Time to book a fall trip! Water temps have fallen and action will only get better!

This last week end northeaster has the near shore water stirred up should take a few days for it to clear. Bad news is this week end starting Friday 10/17/08 another blow is in the forcast! The week end looks like we will not be going off shore at all!

Seems like mid week has been the best sea conditions!

Hope the trend changes!

Call Capt. Rod to book a trip 910-352-2719

Catch of blackfin tuna, wahoo and mahi! A blue marlin was hooked at the 100 fathom curve. The fishing should only get better and was told the yellow fin were down off of Charleston last week. They should be making their way north in the next couple of weeks.

The blackfin were caught way back behind the boat! Long lines were 200 plus yards out. Light leader and small baits were the ticket. Sreader bar rigs also scored well on the tuna!

Closer in caught grouper and snaller on the way home. Bottom fished in the 40 mile range with nice catch. Kings are still holding in the 68 degree water in the 40 mile range!

Spring is just around the corner and the offshore fishing is starting to pick up!

Time to get the boat ready, sharpen the hooks get new line on the reels and check out the tackle.

I highly suggest that if your boat has set all winter or even a few weeks drop it in the water get the motor running, run it for an hour in the water way make sure all electronics are working etc! Best to do it on a Saturday when you can not fish than start off shore and have problems!

Gulf Stream – Blackfin Tuna have shown up along with some very nice wahoo! Pull up temp shot and look for the temp changes! Could be as much as 10 miles in shore of the break! When running out be sure to watch your temp gauge for changes!

Grouper are still going very strong in the 40 mile range!

Kings near the tower and I heard some actually near WR4. I was not there but I know push of water came in closer to shore and with that 66 degree water could well have been kings! Again look at water temp shot when planning your king trip! 66 plus degree water is the ticket!
