Sorry for the delay, but I have been busy fishing not typing on the computer. The fishing over the past few weeks fishing has been tough at its best. We have had strong southwest winds, choppy seas, and muddy water. Even in these conditions we have had great days on the water and caught a few fish as well.

The past few days have seen great fishing. The wind changed directions and the fish started to bite. We have been catching redfish, flounder, trout, spanish, sharks, and whatever else will pull our string. We have caught fish using artificial lures or soaking live bait. I come prepared to do whatever it takes to get you catching fish, Just short of dynamite or gill net.

Check out the pics and see what you and your family or friends might catch.

It has been hot and so has the fishing. We have been leaving early on all the trip to catch the tides right and fish in the cooler temps. Inshore we are still catching redfish on lures or live bait. The flounder and trout have been active as well. We can cast lures or use live bait, I will guide you to a great day on the water. Catching fish and having fun is the goal of every trip.

We have had a few inshore slams on the flats boat consisting of flounder, trout and redfish. Most of these taken on grubs and topwater.

Just off the beach we have caught lots of spanish and blues. This is a great family trip. After catching as many as needed for a great family dinner we then go shark fishing. Catching these hard fighting speedsters is a blast on 12lbs class rods. The kids old and young love this. We have also been catching a few kings and flounder on these trips as well.

All this action has been taking place in the calm protected water of the flats and creeks. If you are looking to get out of the crowds and enjoy some great fishing action, then a trip aboard the Redfish Explorer or Carolina Explorer is for you…..

Just off the coast the spanish mackerel and blues have been biting in great numbers. We have been trolling just off the beach or casting spoons at breaking fish on the surface. The flounder and sharks have also been around the wrecks and reefs just off the coast. If you want to try for something a little bigger the kings are cruising the beachs and just offshore at this moment.

Over the past week we have had some great trips. We have averaged several 12 to 18 fish redfish day, with the slow days being 9 to 10 reds. These trips have also had a few flounder and trout added to the mix. The trout have been nice size 18 to 20 inch fish. In the ocean we have caught lots of spanish and bluefish. The kings and cobia have been cruising the coast following the schools of menhaden. Now is a great time to go inshore fishing in Carolina beach, Wrightsville beach, Bald Head Island, or Southport. If you want to book a great light tackle inshore fishing trip give me a call at 910-264-1807. Here are a few pics of my clients and their fish.

The past few weeks we were blessed with average fishing and lots of wind. We caught fish but had to work hard and cover lots of ground. Anybody saying the oppisite, well you know what I mean.

Inshore we have caught red drum on live mudminnow, fresh shrimp, and with lures on the flats boat. The black drum and a few sheepshead have been biting shrimp and small crabs. We also caught bluefish and a few flounder as well. At the mouth of the river we caught lots of whiting on fresh shrimp. The whiting fishing is almost over since the sharks have moved in.

Just off the beach the bluefish and spanish mackerel have showed up in great numbers. We have been catching these fish casting spoons to surface feeders or trolling. This action has been great when the weather has allowed us to get in the ocean.

I know the weather is going to break, winds calm down and the fish will get to really biting. If you want to sightcast to redfish or cast spoons at spanish give me a call at 910-264-1807.

Here are a few pics of the last few trips, fishing fun was had by everyone….

We had some great fishing over Easter Break onboard the Carolina Explorer. We caught redfish, black drum, whiting, ringtails, black bass, sharks, and whatever else would bite our hooks. Everyone had a great time and I lookfoward to fishing with them again over the summer and fall. So here are a few pics and reports.

Derek and his wife had a great time catching whiting and redfish. They came to Carolina Beach to warm up after the long cold winter in Maine. They had to leave early from their trip so they could cut firewood for next winter, Ha Ha. No one in Maine has to worry about me moving up there, but I might visit.

Sam and his Father Guy had a great redfish trip aboard the flats boat. We fished hard, hooked several fish and landed a few. Here is Sam with his first lunker, just kidding, look at the blue on this ones tail and the smile on Sams face.

Sam with a Nice Redfish on the flats. He released this one to catch agian on the next father/son fishing trip.

Guy and Sam having way to much fishing fun, I think Sam is more excited than his dad who caught the fish. Cool pink fishing hat Sam.

Guy with another great Carolina Beach redfish, caught on a lure in the flats.

Dennis, Jamie, and Steve with a nice catch of whiting and Sharks. We had a blast catching the fish and the proof is in the pic.

Brian and his son Morgan with a pair of nice black drum, Brian caught one and so did Morgan. I love to say the Morgans fish was bigger than his dads. Neil caught a nice red on this trip as well, so send me a pic of the fish Brian.

Deanna, Ashley, and Punky with a great catch of whiting. Happy 39th Birthday Deanna. Thanks for fishing with me again and looking foward to the next trip.

Ayers Jerry and His sons had a great trip with plenty of ringtails, Hake, small trout, and a few black bass. Remember Boys Sunscreen is your friend, I hope your feet cooled off after the trip.

Roy Whitaker and Crew had a great time catching whiting and small croaker. The reds and black drum were not our friends this day. We had plenty of action and made the best of the windy conditions.

Young Metcalf with the first flounder of the year. He was not a keeper, the flounder, but it is a sign of things to come for the spring and summer.

I forgot to mention that Mike and his son caught one citation whiting and missed another by just one ounce. I look foward to fishing with you both this summer.

This spring fishing is getting better with each day. We are catching fish and soon the blues, bonito, and speckled trout will be here . Book your spring and summer trips today.Call 910-264-1807.

I had the pleasure to fish with a couple of great groups of people this past weekend. Justin and Shayla just wanted to catch as many big fish as they could close to shore. We went Shark fishing and totaled out with 49 Sharks from 5lbs to 10lbs and a few nice seabass. All the action was on light tackle so it was a blast to catch these hard fighting sharks.

Shayla tormenting Justin with her killer shark, watch out she is a man eater.

Shayla the shark queen, the smile says it all. This was her first time fishing, ever.

I had Steven and his two sons Phillip and Thomas. We fished hard for the red and black drum in the waterway. All we could manage was a small sheepshead. We switched gears and went after the whiting. We ended up with 49 nice whiting in just a short amount of time. They had a blast catching these great eating fish, which are fun to catch on small light tackle. If you want to put some great tasting fish in the cooler this is the trip for you.

The Parkers catch of 49 nice whiting, I can smell them cooking in the grease now… No that is the fillets they gave me to eat tonight.

Steven, Phillip, and Thomas had some father and sons fishing fun. We fished hard and had a blast catching these great tasting fish.

I had Bud from Carolina Beach with his grandson and friend on the boat. We caught lots of whiting and had a great afternoon on the water. Bud managed to catch most of the big ones, due to his fishing expertise. He did let a few get by him, Chris and Terry caught some of ones that Bud let slip by his hook. It was a great Grandfather/Grandson fishing trip and I know there will be more to follow. Just way too much fun and great fishing to boot.

Bud, Chris, and Terrys great catch of whiting. The big ones are Chris’s and Buds, the small ones Terry caught.

A great day on the water with Grandfather/Grandson and friends.

The redfish, whiting, and sharks are biting. Get out of the house, get some sun on your bones and enjoy some great springtime fishing.

Thanks for reading the report, stay tuned I have few redfish trips this week and will keep you posted.

Thanks

Even the pros can make a bad cast every now and then. Deans lure “Fell Off”, whatever that means and Buddy hooked himself in the excitement. I wish I had a video camera running during all the exciment, Ha Ha Ha. We are all looking foward to the next trip, so we can put too much pressure on them.

Fished on the flats boat today with Robbie and Charles. We caught lots of redfish(18) on lures and sight casted to most of them. Robbie started off strong but Charles ended the day with the most fish caught. All of the fish were in the 20 to 24 inch range, just good slot sized fish. We are seeing lots of fish, the Redfish action is only going to get better with the warmer air and water temps. Now is the time to book your spring flats fishing trip. If I can help you with a Carolina Beach fishing charter or Wrightsville Beach fishing charter let me know 910-264-1807.

Inshore fishing has been good over the past week, despite the windy conditions. We are catching speckled trout, red drum, black drum, whiting, and sharks. These fish are a blast to catch on lures or live bait. Everyone has had a great time and enjoyed their day of fishing. Now is a great time to book your spring or summer fishing trips. If you would like to do a shrimping charter, we can do that as well.

Thanks for checking out the report. Remember to have fun when you are fishing. Life is too short, enjoy your time on the water.

Thanks
