Carolina Explorer 10-7 fishing report. The truth about the fishing since the rain. It was good. I am still catching a few fish, but it will only get better.
The fishing since the rain has been in a steady decline. The day after the storms I had a recon fishing trip with my friend Tommy from the BlueMarlin charter boat. We set the trolling motor on high and in three hours caught a 25inch red, flounder and a nice trout. The next day I caught 19 redfish with a great couple Zoe and Candice from Burlington. We slayed them, all nice slot to upper slot fish. The day after this I took friend and long time client Brian and his dad Chuck . We caught 9 nice redfish . On monday I carried Wesley and Louis and we had a inshore slam day, Redfish, Trout, and Flounder. All small fish with one keeper trout. Wesley has fished two more days with me, Lots of small reds and a few nice black drum. The fishing has slowed. We are still catching fish and having lots of fun, just not the numbers or size before the storm. That is the truth. Anyone else saying different, well you know what I mean. Remember that, I mean it..
Tommy with his 25inch redfish the day after the storms and 24inchs of rain. We all had cabin fever and wanted to see what was happening.
Candice with a nice two spot redfish. We caught 19 redfish on this trip. This was a birthday trip for her husband Zoe.
Zoe with an over the slot redfish. What a great birthday present.
Zoe happy birthday with a keeper redfish. 26inchs.
Brian with two of three keeper redfish. We caught 9 redfish on a cool cloudy day, and he was home in time to watch the steelers game. Mission accomplished. His dad Chuck had a blast as well.
I have been fishing everyday since the storm. Lots of freshwater. The bait has thinned. In time we will have some more great fall fishing. All we need is the floodwater upstream to fall. I you want the truth, give me a call.
Thanks for reading the report. Fishing will get better.
