Cape Fear Guide Action

Cape Fear Guide has been catching fish the last three days on the water has really been nice, weather has been great with light winds sunny skies,I am still having to work hard finding these fish,but we are catching ! The dredge pond is still holding the small size menhaden,one cast with a 12 foot net yields all the bait for the day.Carolina rigs with small menhaden are my standard go to rig,we have also been using GOT – CHA soft plastics in 4″ curly tails lime green/Silver Flake with 1/4 oz. red jig heads.

Weather for the up coming weekend should be okay,everyone be safe,and have a great holiday weekend !

Mike Dennis http://cbfishing.com/fishingreports/capefearguide/?p=403 Cape Fear Guide fishing has been tough this week,due to strong winds and rain virtually every day.The dredge pond has been the place to go to catch live menhaden,bait has been easy to catch.The inshore bite for me has not been great but we are catching red drum,flounder,blue fish, having to move around a lot to locate the fish.Hopefully this weather will move out of the Cape Fear area soon,the rain was much needed,just has made fishing hard.

Mike Dennis http://cbfishing.com/fishingreports/capefearguide/?p=385 Carolina Beach fishing continues to be off from the normal fall fishing this past week end a surf tournament was held with no speckle trout caught which is a good indicator what is really going on,all categories that were weighed end were small fish.Flounders,speckle trout,and red drum are being caught but fishing is tough,I fished Buzzard Bay on Saturday one of the better inshore areas in the Cape Fear Region, fishing was slow,finally after numerous spots, I went to where  red  drum were holding caught the largest red fish of the season 31 1/2″ red fish.

Manage to catch a couple 3 lb. flounders out to complete a tough day of fishing !

Mike Dennis http://cbfishing.com/fishingreports/capefearguide/?p=381 Cape Fear Guide reports yesterday’s fishing charter at Bald Island Island was put on a two hour delay because of the severe thunder storms,0nce the storm passed,the sun came out it actually became a beautiful day.The passing of the thunder storms must have turned the red drum bite on the first two cast  yielded slot size red fish.Weather here in the Cape Fear Region has really been unsettle due to all the thunder storms coming up from the south. The sun is out here at Carolina beach,N.C. this morning hopefully the weekend will be sunny,with temperatures in the low 70’s just great for fishing.
