Carolina Beach fishing season has started with the annual run of whiting at the mouth of the Cape Fear River, these are the first charters I run every year most days the action is steady enough to end up with a good catch of fish at the end of the day.Light spinning rods, double hook bottom rigs, baited with the freshest shrimp you can find seems to work best.

Whiting iced down !

Spring time is here, whiting are biting, now is the time to get out and enjoy the great outdoors we have here in the Cape Fear area.

Whiting are Biting !

North Carolina fall fishing is here in the Cape Fear Region weather has really been good the lastĀ  few days light winds with mild air temperatures have made being out on the water really a lot of fun.Flounders, red drum, speckle trout are all bitingĀ  now some days the bite is better than others but we are catching fish! I have really been busy this last week, fishing every day is really helping me stay on top of where the bite is the best.

Caught this Bull Red Drum on a local inshore reef !

Spanish Mackerel (8lbs)

Found some large Spanish Mackerel yesterday !

Light tackle inshore red drum

John Carpenter booked two days on the backwaters of the Cape Fear River

Give the Cape Fear Guide – Capt.Mike Dennis a call at 910-619-0928 to experience the backwaters of the Cape Fear River.
