Catching a few nice sized Virginia mullet at the mouth of the Cape Fear. A few speckled trout, & some red drum. Up around Wilmington in the Brunswick River catching quite a few striped bass, some in the 20 lb. range & a catching a few red drum. Keep fishing & stay safe.

The water temperature has warmed up a few degrees to about 52 degrees at the mouth of the Cape Fear River.

Catching some red drum, striped bass, & speckled trout in the waterways, bays, & Cape Fear.

The last few weeks fishing has been pretty slow but we are still catching some speckled trout in the Carolina Beach inlet on the rising tide. Some nice sized speckled trout in the Yacht Basin. Still some red drum in the backwaters of Bald Head Island. Some nice size striped bass around the Exxon Terminal & in the Brunswick River. Blast from the past: All these flounder were caught on artifical bait(grub) on a sandbar off Bald Head Island by John & Debbie Carty.

Blast from the past: Some nice red drum in the 40 to 45 pound range caught by Mark Jackson, Arthur Carty, & John Carty on the east beach of Bald Head Island.

In the waterways, bays, & River still catching a good amount of red drum, some black drum, speckled trout, Virginia mullet, blowfish, & up the River some striped bass.

In the surf red & black drum, speckled trout, Virginia mullet, & blowfish.

The water temperature is still in the mid 50’s compared to last year at this time it was in the low 40’s. Keep fishing & stay safe.

In the waterways, rivers, & bays still catching some nice sized speckled trout in the Carolina Beach yacht basin. A few red drum are still being caught. Up around Wilmington in the Cape Fear catching some striped bass & some red drum, & speckled trout. In the surf catching a few black drum & Virginia mullet.

In the waterways, bays, & River we are catching some speckled trout, red drum, a few small Virginia mullet. In the Brunswick River, Cape Fear, & Northeast Cape Fear up around Wilmington we are catching some striped bass, large speckled trout, & some red drum.

Remember you have to release you striped bass but take a picture & we will post them. The water temperature this past week has been 50 to 53 degrees but this cold snap we are expecting is getting ready to change that so get out & do some fishing now. Keep fishing & stay safe.

On the surf we are still catching red & black drum, & a few Virginia mullet.

In the waterways, bays, & River water temperature is still in the low 50’s. Catching a few speckled trout, red drum, black bass, blowfish, & small Virginia mullet.

Up around Wilmington in the Cape Fear River catching some striped bass, catfish, & nice sized speckled trout.

In the river, waterways, & bays we are catching some speckled trout, a few gray trout, red drum, small Virginia mullet, blowfish, striped bass, and an occasional flounder. In the surf still a catching a few red drum, speckled trout, flounder, Virginia mullet, black drum, & small bluefish.

The water temperature is still holding in the mid 50’s which is a lot better than last year at this time. Keep fishing & stay safe.

In the waterways, river, & bays catching speckled & gray trout, red drum, still a few flounder, Virginia mullet, black bass, & small bluefish.

In the surf catching red & black drum, some speckled trout, flounder, small bluefish, & Virginia mullet. The water temperature is steadily dropping. It is now in the upper 50’s which is still a good temperature for fishing but the window is closing. Get out & do some fishing before the water temperature drops more & the fish are no long biting. Keep fishing & stay safe.
